David Long, M.A.
Hailing from the Belmont area of San Mateo county, David Long has been a staple of the Bay Area music scene for over 20 years. After earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Piano Studies at UC Santa Cruz in 2003, David discovered a passion for music education, quickly amassing a studio of 40+ piano, guitar, and bass guitar students. In addition to his teaching career, David has served as choral accompanist and vocal coach while gigging throughout Santa Cruz and the South Bay as well as internationally in several choirs, rock groups, and small ensembles. David returned to UCSC in 2017 and completed his Master’s Degree in Musicology two years later, focusing on early 20th Century Piano Performance Practices. He now pursues at PhD in Cross Cultural Musicology and dedicates his time to teaching, performing, and being a loving husband and father to his wife Melanie, and 3-year-old son, Liam.
